National "Ride Your Motorcycle to Work" Day

Today is the Day!

Given the number of riders that only get out once a month when the weather is above 75 degrees, the roads are dry, the moon is waning, and the coat of Mother's chrome wax is still shiny, I'm taking the truck to work!

Actually, that was a ride your bicycle to work day.

For motorcycles, it is the third Monday in June. This year, it is Monday, 15 June 2009. See: http://www.ridetowork.org/

Kinda presumptuous of me; May is "Motorcycle Safety Month" in Texas. I figured May 18 and "Ride your bike to work" meant real bikes, not bicycles.

Nope, the pick 'em up. Had a meeting in DFW Monday night and joined the Motorcycle Safety Association; founded recently and represents motorcycle safety training sponsors and RiderCoaches.

I didn't feel too comfortable thinking about getting home at midnight - after I got up at 5:15 that morning.

Rode yesterday and rode today. Two bikes in the parking lot at work...me and an RT. Our unnamed tropical mess down here is keeping all the H-D's in the garage at home.

Three loves - motorcycles, good wine, and contrabassoon...none of which mix. Engineer by day to pay for them all.
