Another thing to check off the ole list.

Item # 568 ... Go for a nice ride during the first bit of snow of the year. Oh yes, nothing quite like a relaxing ride with all those little snow flakes pummeling the windscreen.

People around here can't believe I am still riding. They keep making comments like "Gas is getting cheaper you know" ... maybe so but food is still expensive as hell.

I don't ride because its cheaper. I ride because I love to ride. And for those of you who haven't winterized yet. Keep on riding, natures thermometer only shrinks so much.

No snow here, yet....still some beautiful fall days, nights in '40's, days in low 70's, supposed to last another week before cooler weather. Indian Summer, best time to ride Utah!

No snow here yet but, the coldest this year was today for me 32 "balmy Fahrenheit degrees" this morning.

Only saw one other rider on a V-Twin Honda with a windshield. He had ski gloves and a face mask on!

Best 40 miles I could have ridden.

LOVE the heated seats!

Yup.... I look forward to the challenges late fall brings to my ride. I haven't had to deal with a entire day of freezing temps yet... but who cares really? Between the seats, grips and good gear, I haven't been uncomfortable yet. -- I haven't had her a full 4 seasons, and need to see just what I'm willing to tolerate in the comfort zone -- this side of scraping the windscreen.

At this point, I'm only concerned with black ice. if there's more than a dusting of snow, I'll put her away.... and start my winter projects... breaking her down to parade rest, new seat, replacing electrical tape wire spices.. have my first tupperware party... and touch up the nicks and scratches.

My christmas list has a new theme this year... ANYTHING FARKLASTIC!

Update, last night (I work second shift) 27 degrees, windchill factor is OMG in with no sunlight. I think I might have hit my breaking point.

Just curious - what was item #567?

P.S. It takes more of that expensive food to keep your body warm in the snowy weather. The savings on gas may be balanced by the increased food costs.

Re: Another thing to check off the ole list.

I purchsed my LT last February, started riding to work end of March, quite a few mornings around 25 degrees when I left the house at 5:00 am. Will keep riding to work until the snow hits.

If you were in Charlotte, I was the V-twin Honda rider in all the winter gear. No heated anything and a small windshield. Saving up for the LT and hoping to purchase in the next few months. I try to ride all year and am looking forward to doing it with a little protection. I saw a blue LT go by as I was merging so your post caught my eye. Been lurking here for awhile....thouhgt I'd say Hi

sorry to hijack your post.....

Re: Another thing to check off the ole list.

I will ride until the snow flies up here in CT. I rode today and yesterday. When i left the homestead this AM it was 28 degrees. Now mind you I am on a GS so the only heated thing I have are the grips but they will burn your hands on the high setting. I end up switching between high and low a couple of times on my commute into work which is about 20 Miles. People look at em like I am nuts not sure how they found out....

I get those crazy stares too. I have one of the Old LT's where it had the option of a heated seat. so the only thing I have is the grips too. I am the same way though switching from high and low. My knees are the only thing getting cold right now, so I guess I will have to add another layer on my legs. Since I only ride 2 days a week I am really stretching the riding this year.(I have to cart my daughter to daycare 3 days a week) Hoping to only have about 2 months winter down time.

Yesterday I saw a harley out and about. guy must have been doing 70 and had a dew rag over his mouth and nose. Gotta keep up the image even though he is probably getting mild hypothermia.
