You know in that second video you can almost hear the FD doing a Sam Kinison imatation:

"Oh Oh OOOOH!!!"

At least the first video is correct...

Harley riders are sheeple...

The Harley riding season is almost over.
WooHoo the twisty roads will belong to the local riders again.

Re: Are we black sheep????????

Funny that it starts out as if the black sheep is going to be individualistic, only to join in to another herd. That has always been somewhat funny, that the average Harley rider wants you to believe that he is an individual, and a rebel, only to have to dress and act just like the large crowd he likes to ride with or be chastised as being "strange". Not all mind you, but most.

I, like most here, was very happy out on the open road usually alone, or with one or two other riders at most. Like that GT rider.

I don't want to achieve immortality through my work...I want to achieve it through not dying.

Re: Are we black sheep????????

That's hilarious! But how many folks will catch the irony of all the "rugged individualists" running away from the pack, just to join a much larger pack all made up of other identical "rugged individualists"?

"I'm one bad-ass individual! Fear me!" "Me, too!" "Me, too!" "Me, too!" "Me, too!"

Re: Are we black sheep????????

You gotta admit Harley does know their marketing; clever buggers! Having recently purchased my first BMW I can honestly say that their marketing efforts played a zero role in my decision. Didn't mean to get off on a tangent but in the 3 short months I've owned my '09 LT at least 4 people over the age of 40 have complemented on how good looking it is while in the same breath saying " I didn't know BMW made motorcycles." I guess the fact that most people have never even seen a dealership sure doesn't help matters. Great motorcycles held back by a weak dealer network and poor brand management. Sorry for the rant guys and gals but sometimes I don't think the Germans have a clue.

Re: Are we black sheep????????

I looked at that film and wondered, "Where did Harley-Davidson get all the black sheep?" Real black sheep are not that common.

They must have taken a lot of white sheep and dyed them black. That pretty well sums it up, don't ya' think?

(...and yes, they might have used computer techniques to replicate a few black sheep, but then, you're missing the point.)

What the Harley commercial failed to show was all the sheep dip left in the parking lots.

You got to be impressed that they were able to train all their pillion riders to walk in unison. Not a G string on any of them. What a shame.

Read my mind David. Any breed that has a herd mentality ... I guess I just don't "fit in". Then again, I don't fit in with the "individuals" here in BMWland either.

I sent myself an email the other day, and finally, I wasn't misconstrued.

Re: Are we black sheep????????

I think the "Herd Mentality" goes up at the rate of how expensive the bike is. Lets face it its hard to admit that you might have made a $20k mistake on a hobbie. The harder you have to justify the purchase (Harley people?) the more likely you become a zealot for your brand. Im kind of going thru this now with the FD issue and others are already down the herd path sticking with the brand even after multiple costly FD replacements and no apologies from the Fatherland. I guess its OK to be a part of the Herd as long as you dont beat your chests about it.
