Motorcycle Travel Network

We joined the Motorcycle Travel Network about 2 years ago.
Members pay $15 single or $20 for a couple to stay at another members home, bed and breakfast. We currently have a couple from New Zeland staying with us as they are touring the West coast on their Gold Wing.
It's much better than being isolated in a motel room and allows the host to sort of share in the others ride. This couple has ridden India and Viet Nam and the stories are amazing. As yet we haven't stayed at another members home, but look forward to it.

Re: Motorcycle Travel Network

Cool idea! http://www.motorcycle-travel.net/

I've explored some of the house swapping sites - seems like a great idea and what a way to save some MAJOR bucks on vacation.

Question Re: Motorcycle Travel Network

I have been interested in this concept, and would like to investigate this group a bit further. I can see that there would be opportunities to meet fellow motorcycle travelers, which may be very enjoyable.

Then again, maybe some concern about opening my home to strangers, and the fact that unknown guest may not fit so well. I wonder if there is some type of screening process?

Ah life! one risk after another.

Re: Motorcycle Travel Network

members must make their home available, to use other members accomodations (not just a one way deal).
A member will call requesting a date to stay overnight, (at this point I usually check their posting to get a "feel" for the type of person.
If the date is not convenient, that's o.k.
You only have to allow one guest per year to remain active.
We have had two guests and really enjoyed both times.
