Joe I can't belive it

Joe, (Messenger13)
I can't belive your selling the bike already. This must mean you have or are about to buy another bike? Surely your not going with a bike. Keep us up to date on what going on.

He didn't want to admint this but.......................he just couldn't handle the raw power of the GT anymore!

At his ripe old age of mid 40 somethingoranother, he may just have to go back with the old-man's bike, the LT!

As Dave has already tollya, a new Concours 14 is just a matter of time. And when Kaw announced that they're selling it in BLACK for '09, well that sealed the deal.

So I decided to sell the GT and buy and even faster, more powerful bike?

I surely hope it takes more than just another bike for that to happen.

Hey Joe,

I rode with a guy from Lexinton, KY to Asheville, NC on a brand new 09 black C-14. He only had it for 2 weeks and loved it. He was held up by his riding partners on FJR's.

Better gas mileage?!?! WHO GIVES A RIP ABOUT GAS MILEAGE?!?! I want ... err ... DEMAND PERFORMANCE! And the FJR just doesn't have the lean angle that I need in a sport-tourer.

I (and 3 others) rode with an FJR owner for 2 days. He rode in 5th position all of the time, simply because he couldn't hang with us in the twisties due to dragging hardware. And not once did he pass us by as we fueled up. Just sayin'... (FWIW, one of the other bikes was an LT. )

Having said all of that ... the Yamaha FJR1300 is an awesome machine. It is EXTREMELY reliable, and it does just about everything quite well. If I was more into the IronButt stuff, I'd probably buy one. But I'm not, so I won't.

Great choice Joe.
I am in to the Iron Butt stuff. I would not let 2-4 mpg less the C-14 gets steer me away. When riding at rally pace the LT mpg is in the gutter at 26 mpg .
I have about 500 test miles on both bikes , the FJR good bike but. The C-14 feels like a perfect fit for me. Plus the warrantee 3 years unlimited miles , hard to beat !

So what don't you like about the FJR?

Personally, I've been trying to put my finger on "it" (other than the lack of lean-angle thing), and I just can't quite figure it out. Maybe it's just a lack of personality to me. (And I repeat: "to ME") Meanwhile, that C14 makes me breathe a little heavy.

Re: Joe I can't belive it

I dunno - I prefer the C14's stylish and macho take-no-prisoners appearance way over the Feejer's....I'll let you guys argue all its other merits.

Ride On!
