Class action lawsuit

I just got notice that VW is subject to a class action lawsuit. (CV06-2562 ABC (JTLx) At issue is "...the defendant (VW) failed to make certain secure codes and encryption data strings available to locksmiths and repair shops other than franchised VW and Audi dealers, thus depriving consumers of potential choices in programming computerized replacement Smart Keys, resulting in higher costs..." In short, as far as I can tell (not being a lawyer or wanting to read through the microscopic print) VW settled by making the systems and codes available to independents and locksmiths.

I wonder if this might spill over to BMW's proprietary MoDeTec system.

_ Why is there never enough time to do it right the first time, but always enough time to do it over?

I think you're referring to the EWS security key system, not MODTEC engine management...
