Re: Waterproof Ram-mount boxes!

I bought one for use an recent 4000 mile trip. I wanted it to put my non-waterproof GPS unit in. It does its job. Here are some drawbacks:

1. The flexible membrane screen causes quite a reflection. The GPS was readable when it was cloudy or rainy but not when the sun was out.
2. This led to the need to use the my original Ram Mount for the GPS if it was sunny.
3. Once the power cord is routed through the back of the Aqua Box it is not possible to remove it without removing the screws for the mounting plate. This meant I needed an extra power cord so I could leave on attached to the box when I was running the GPS on power with it in the regular Ram Mount holder so it would be visible in bright light.
4. The locking feature seems a bit questionable since it would be so easy to slit the screen and remove the contents of the box.

All in all, a good product that allowed me to use my GPS in rainy stretchs of the trip although it required changing from one Ram system to another to adapt to rainy/sunny conditions.

Hope that helps anyone who is looking at them.

Re: Waterproof Ram-mount boxes!

Out of all the boxes offered I still have yet to find a waterproof box for satellite radios...Sirius in particular. Does anyone know of one?

Check out "OTTER Box" another waterproof system, I use it for my I-Pod.
