Riding to Torrey, UT

Heading to Torrey, UT next weekend with a group of guys. We are planning to base at Torrey and take day rides out from there. Any input on great roads and vistas in the area would be helpful. It has been a long time (26 yrs) since I have been in that area and memory is foggy about the best roads.

Thanks

Re: Riding to Torrey, UT

Check out bwmst.com under rides and ride planning. 84 of us just got back from a weekend up there. Lots of information there.

Do the Fish Lake Loop. Highway 12 is a must do as well.

Have fun.

Re: Riding to Torrey, UT

We just got back from Bryce Canyon this week. Lots of riders down there this time of year. The best ride is the loop around Bryce/Tropic/Boulder. Plan ahead for a place to stay because even last weekend vacancies in all of southern Utah were imposible to find!

I took US-89 after Flagg staff couple years back to Utah Rally. It was pretty good.

Re: Riding to Torrey, UT

I love Torrey and should have been there last week with the "Gathering" from the BMWST board. I will make the Sept. ride with them. The Fish Lake Loop is a great ride and then if you continue on the same road that you turn off to go to Fish Lake it is called "Sweeper Madness" (all the way up to I70) by the BMWST guys and for good reason!! Another ride to to go down through the park all the way to the Lake and then take the ferry back accross the lake. Make sure you do the "Burr trail" out of Boulder also. The ride to Torrey on Hwy 12 is one of the best in the country. Here is a pic going up to Fish Lake

Another heading to the far side of the lake

Re: Riding to Torrey, UT

When he refers to "the lake", and the ferry etc. he is talking about Lake Powell, not Fish Lake.

Fish Lake is a small reservoir off Hwy 24 and 72 near Torrey. Powell is farther south.
