Radio Code

Good Day All!
After 4 months of improvements to my 99 K1200LTC The Mothership is ready to come home. Problem is no one knows how to get radio to function again including several very reputable BMW authorized shops. First, I cannot readily locate the manuals that came with the bike, secondly I KNOW somebody on this site will say "That was Easy!" and advise me on what to do.
Thanks in advance for giving me the solution and in return I'll post pictures of a $2100.00 pearlescent white paint job! Oh, I apologize for not posting this under the radio section, but I figured more owners read this section first! Ride on!

Re: Radio Code

I'm hoping I'm wrong, but I believe the only way to get that code is for your dealer to call the boys in Germany. I don't think there is a backdoor, or a wrok-around.

Like I said . . . I hope I'm wrong.

Re: Radio Code

Don't know if BMW is the same as MB but for MB I can go into tech connect and get sprinter radio codes by vin #. I would think your BMW dealer could do the same.

Re: Radio Code

I don't think the LT radio has a security code, mine has been off for days and always worked fine after the re-install. The only "code" I received with my new LT was for the alarm system.

They sure do John. I remember having one for my '02, and the dealer stating clearly NOT to lose the thing. IIRC, it came in handy when they had to replace the RCU. I believe that code is used to pair up the RCU to the radio ... but I could be wrong about that.

The confusing thing about this thread is how the dealers seem incapable of helping the poster.

Re: Radio Code

After the third radio was installed on my '02 (under warranty) I asked the tech as I was going out the door where the code card was. After much shoulder shrugging I left rationalizing I had never needed the old codes, so probably wouldn't need this one either. True so far.

I did find the code though. While accessing the back of the radio to attach an input cable for 'AUX', the code card was taped to the radio unit.

Yup Joe. I looked in my folder when I got back home today and sure enough a code card for the radittio. That is probably what it is for because mine was out for several hours and did not have a problem.
