BMW Xplor

Is it okay if I ask a question about BMWXplor on this site?

IF so, I'd like to ask if anyone is having any issues using the site. Everytime I try to reply on the forums there, I am sent to log in screen, enter my login and it sends me to the home page. That's as far as I can get. I can read posts, but can't reply.

Any suggestions? the contact email never replies. I was able to get to the profile of Shiva, one of the moderators and was able to email him, but have lost the email apparently. His suggestions didn't seem to help anyway.

I'd just like to be able to use that site occasionally.

Thanks
Randy

Re: BMW Xplor

I got on this morning after receiving a bunch of notifications that someone replied to a post I am subscribed to. This has been going on for months. I need to try it from home to see if it's my acct, or just my computer here. It works for every other forum, though.

Thanks
Randy

It isn't you or your computer. I have to login as well. The site works inconsistently with the different computers I have access too. Also received last night a plethora of email notifications to an old thread. Have also received no response to contact email help. I think BMW tried to create a facebook/myspace community.

Re: BMW Xplor

BMWXplor doesn't seem to have much useful content. Many pages are still pending, after a year or more of operation. I wonder if this is the pet project of someone at BMWNA, which is suffering from a severe lack of funding and neglect.

The only reason I'm on it at all is because it is an "officially" sponsored site. When I bought a KGT, the included materials made it seem much better than it really is.

--> Does anyone here get anything useful out of BMWXplor?

IMHO, it pales in comparison to other BMW-oriented web sites. My favorites are K-Bikes.com, BMWLT.com, and iBMW.com.

Of course, those "highly commercialized" web sites are all run by a few profiteering guys who do nothing but sit all day on their front porches and sip mint juleps while the armored trucks deliver wads of cash ($175,000 per year - but is that per site??), right? *See note below.

*note: There was a recent, highly misinformed editorial in MCN about motorcycle web sites. They got it completely wrong, in my opinion, accusing those web sites of pushing biased content on an unsuspecting public, oriented towards their commercial interests, etc.

Re: BMW Xplor

Only thing I really like or use it for is keeping up with what the Xplor race team is doing. And I'm not even sure they are backing a team now.

thanks guys
Randy
