BMW Spy news and applied patents

I searched around and I found this

BMW developing 'uncrashable' motorcycle

BMW Motorrad has applied for patents on a system of devices capable of removing control from riders if they make an error or lose traction. A system of hydraulic rods and pivots can control the lean angle of both wheels independently and even the steering, regardless of rider input. While we're skeptical of this design, we canít help but note how effective stability control has been at making cars safer, reducing the likelihood of vehicles equipped with it from being involved in a fatal crash by 43 percent.

And this:

Spy photos: BMW K46

The eds at Motociclismo.es have photos of what they claim is a new superbike from BMW. According to the Spanish site, itís codenamed K46 and has a 1000+ cc inline-four making something in the region of 190bhp. They note that the engine is sloped extremely forward, like the current K1200S. And that itís small enough to fit inside the R6 fairing, which, if the capacity is accurate, is quite an achievement. The K46 could be the first BMW to directly challenge the Japanese on their home turf. If itís to succeed, it needs to be the best bike the company has ever made.

I saw the uncrashable bike thing go around once. That drawing certainly doens't look like something I want to ride! As for the Superbike, yes, a well known "secret". BMW has announced that they will be campaigning it in the 2009 World Superbike series. I'm just waiting for my dealer to get a demo bike.

Some people see the gas tank as half empty. Some see it as half full. All I care is that I know where the next tankful is coming from...
