Medical Flight Program

Some of you may be aware of a company call MedjetAssist. If not you may be interested. I just received my renewal for another two years. It is one of those in the event of programs that you hope will never be used. But if you are in a situation where it is needed you will be glad you have it.

I have no financial interest or connection other then as a member of the program. I am assembling necessary paperwork for my trip and thought I would share for those who may not be aware such a program is available.

You can look at the actual details of the program on their web site. Here is the basics: If you have an immediate medical need more then 150 miles from home requiring local hospitalization, MedjetAssist will have a medical jet with appropriate medical team on board, pick you up and transfer you home and to the hospital of your choice. They will also handle all the administrative paperwork between hospitals, including what it takes to get back into the USA, if you are out of country. They even have an add-on that will have your motorcycle shipped home for you.

You can imagine what the out of pocket expense would be if you did something like this on your own. Easily up to 20 to 30 thousand domestically and can only image if you are out of the country. I sure would not want my wife or I to be stuck in some backwater medical facility that is either understaffed, under equipment or both during a critical medical need. You just place the call and they make it happen.

If you are a member of BMW MOA they have a group discount available. Good deal for less than 300 dollars a year.

May we never find the road!

Thumbs up Re: Medical Flight Program

This service is not as expensive as I thought it would be. If I was taking a motor tour of any distance I would serious consider getting the short term plan.

Re: Medical Flight Program

Medical fight programs are a great idea. My wife and I joined Medical Air Services Association last year. The cost was about $400, for both of us, including the AMA discount.
