BMWLT Site sticker ???

Maybe I am missing it but I don't see any stickers for this Site offered. Other BMW sites have them. Maybe there would be some interest in this site offering one!

True, but you had to earn those. Fortunately, membership into the club isn't that difficult. In fact, the LT makes it downright easy.

I don't think that is a Site Sticker. It would be nice if this Board's leaders would take the lead on this and come up with a "BMW KLT " sticker.

Or a BMWLT.COM sticker! Something small with a blank line on it so we could "sharpie" in our Username! That way, if we see a bike parked, we'll know who it belongs to!

So LOW tech, Mr. Preacher man.

How about a sticker that comes with a WORD template that allows you to print your name with a laser printer. All professional-like. Then again ... maybe I am too anal. Or too much of a tech geek. Or a little (LOT) of both!

OR: A BMWLT.com sticker with a blank area where vinyl letters (your Username) could be applied, in your choice of color !

Would almost look like part of the sticker when done, and look like it was professionally done, maybe ? !

Keep in mind that you can only use a certain percentage of BMW's roundel in the graphics, or BMW will have something to say about it. This is why you see so many partial roundel's on bmwlt.com's graphics (i.e. the site's logo, and CCR's logos).

I've sent the art work Messenger 13 did as well as the photos from the pins that were done a while back to a contact I have from work to see what they can do. It will take about a week or so to get something back.

Re: BMWLT Site sticker ???

Not to be a stick in the mud here....

While we certainly appreciate the thoughts and effort to promote this community, before this is undertaken again I need to ask that any design used to promote this community be approved prior to production.

As has been mentioned, there are certain restrictions BMW will put on its trademarks, even the likeness of the LT, not just the roundel and normally recognized images. If items are used to promote this community, we want to be fully aware of them and make our best judgement that it won't raise the ire of the BMW lawyers.

Additionally, some reasonable distribution of any profit such a project might generate need to go toward the support of this community. These discussions need to take place prior to production and distribution of any product used to promote this community.

The other products referred to in a link at the top of this thread were produced and distributed without any discussion with or involvement by the site ownership. While we are not sure what profit (if any) was derived from the production and sale of those items, we need to be directly involved in any future endeavors.

I really need to stress that the people who own and manage this site do not now, nor have we ever received any financial benefit from this community. We are not looking for any personal gain, just trying to assure the financial viability and freedom from legal entanglements for this community.

Just drop me an email at [email protected] or send me a PM and we can work out the details.

Randy thanks . I would think that this Board needs to authorize this and wants to take the lead roll. I think input from the members would be good. As you know other BMW sites have them and I think it would be good if this site had one. No one needs or wants to step on toes. I thru this out there hoping some of the site managers would take the lead. By the way has anyone seen the BMWRT oval sticker { BMW Sport Touring } ? Its nice.

I really don't want to squelch the initiative to help promote this community. If anyone wants to produce something I only ask that we be kept in the loop. As I just sent someone in a PM, you can rest assured if BMW doesn't like something that is produced to promote this community, their lawyers will deliver notice to our mailbox - it has happened before. I also think it would be unfair to the rest of this community if we allowed any member to profit from such a project without providing some benefit to the community.

Just talk to me before you produce anything, I only have the best interests of this community at heart.

Re: BMWLT Site sticker ???

Stickers, pins, T-shirts
I have stacks of T-shirts a shoebox full of pins
and lots of stickers from previous rallies
and I would probably buy a BMWLT.Com sticker/pin/T-shirt
when it becomes availble

Although I certainly don't "need" any of it.

Were any of Y'all around when the IBMWR (Internet BMW Riders) were formed?
It was kinda cool to find one of their stickers on a Beemer at a rally
and chat with an internet friend "in person"

I haven't made it to any of the CCR's yet (maybe this year)
but weren't some or all of these items available at previous rallies?

Here's a picture of the rally T-shirt one of the two years (never mind the coffee stain)
I was a club President and got to put on a rally,

the idea was "something old something new"
If I had only known then what I know now

Re: BMWLT Site sticker ???

There were a few ideas tossed around a while back, but didn't seem to be any overwhelming interest.

I'd still be willing to do some of the legwork to get stickers or something made, seems like there's enough for the site owners to do already. Don't want to overload them.

Look @ the bottom of this thread, there's a price quote from last year.

Still seeking someone who can come up with a neat looking, classy design that won't step on any toes. I just don't have the artistic talent.

Re: BMWLT Site sticker ???

Okay guys, I can probably produce the decals here at work. However, I don't want to get into the design part, really. If someone will design and get the necessary approval, I'll be glad to see what it would cost to produce. It would be pretty cheap for a round 3" x 3" printed decal. Or about that size.

Here is an idea that I could modify a bit more or any of you can. Will this have too much roundel? I know the bike is cartoony, but it may help get it past the copyright issues. Plus it has the "sportiness" we all know is there.

It may not be serious enough for most of you. I used a version of it on my to cover some PO side case scratches.

Oh yeah, we can print this on reflective also. Decals would be round.

Re: BMWLT Site sticker ???

I am not an attorney,

From my experience as a club pres I can tell you that
the copyright issues are with the roundel if you plan on using "it",
nothing can "cover" it.

So be on the safe side and just change the roundel to a final drive (tongue in cheek)

I like that one Randy.

I for one, have NO problem paying for the cost of the sticker AND additional $$$ as a "FUN" (d) Rai$er for the site.

Cheap price for the education I have received here at the BMWLT - University of Luxury Touring Education.

I know I won't become a graduate to a Junior until I have "stripped her naked" for the first time.

Anyway...I like the sticker ! Put me down for 4.

Re: BMWLT Site sticker ???

Anybody know if there are any pins anywhere like the originals done by petevandyke a couple of years ago ? It would be cool do have a couple of those.

I also like the Droppers Anonymous sticker.

Hi my name is Bill. I'm an LT dropper. I once dropped my LT in a parking lot. BUT it wasn't my fault !!

All those darn mesquite pods on the ground and my foot slipped, and the bike was heavy and......it wasn't my fault !!!

Re: BMWLT Site sticker ???

Would you like some help from a professional graphic artist? I'd be willing to donate some of my time working out an "official" BMWLT.com member's decal. Together we can adhere to all BMW brand guidelines, put together something approved by the leadership of this forum and still come out with an attractive sticker representing our supporting membership. The first step would be to write a plan of action that is approved by BMWLT.com, ultimately it would become BMWLT.com artwork representing their efforts in maintaining this non-profit community. Seems like a worthy cause and I'd be proud to display my membership on the back of my bike...as long as the sticker wasn't butt ugly!
