First Big Ride

I'll be leaving Monday for my first big road trip on the LT. My son, 15, will be on spring break and my wife is buried in tax season. We decided to hit the road along with a friend and his daughter, also on break. My friend has a Harley Ultra Classic so it should be fun to compare.

We'll leave Reno, NV and head over to the Monterey, CA area for a couple days. After that we'll ride up Hwy 1 through San Francisco, across the Golden Gate Bridge and then on up 1 a ways. From there we'll cut across to Napa to spend a night in our timeshare, very nice. Friday we'll ride on up to Fort Bragg to meet some other friends for the weekend. Sunday we'll ride across Northern Cal and back to Reno.

Should be fun.

Any recommendations on things to see would be welcome. We have some things in mind, but additions are always good.

I'll let you know how it goes.

Only thing that your friend will be seeing is your taillight!

Think about visiting the Muir Woods, also Pt. Reyes National Monument.

+1. Unfair advantage on the ultimate cruiser!

If I was the Harley rider I'd be more worried about you 15 year old son.

Re: First Big Ride

Well, we made it there and back. 6 days, 1250 miles and so much fun! Rode from Reno down Hwy 49 as far as Mariposa then across to Monterey. From there we rode all the way up Hwy 1 to Fort Bragg with a side trip to spend a night in Napa.

I thought I liked this bike a lot before the ride, I may be in love now. What a great machine.

My friend and I had a ball, the kids had fun and got along, heck even the weather was good. Can't wait to go again. Maybe next week, I really don't have that much to do at work. Right?
