Unhappy Wrong Place at exactly wrong time!

Riding Wednesday afternoon it was a bit windy, but not enough to keep me from riding to the office. I was riding my Kawi Z750S on my way home and noticed some, what my wife calls, 'gumballs' which are the hard, round, spiny seeds that fall from 'gumball' trees. Anyway, I was thinking to myself that I wouldn't want to hit a bunch of those in a corner and began watching the road to see if there were more. Well, I was going about 45 - 50 mph and saw in the road ahead some bouncing twigs and sticks. Just as I realized what this could mean, a HUGE limb falls from above onto the road right in front me.

I must be living right, because the limb broke into pieces when it hit the road and I managed to slip right between the bouncing pieces. I caught a big piece right on the face of my full face helmet. It cracked my face shield but nothing got through! I also caught a big piece on my right shoulder but not even a bruise thanks to ATGATT! Unfortunately I did lose my right front turn signal and a bit of right side fairing paint in the assault.

I guess the point of the story is to always expect the unexpected!!!!

Good heads up on your part.

Sorry to hear of the damages, but it surely could have been way worse.

You must be living right.

yikes

Looks like you were right in the right place at the right time. Just think if you were a few seconds earlier. PHew!!! We had a guy killed last summer here in CT that was hit by a falling limb. It hit him right in the head. Not sure about the ATGATT. Strange things can happen. Glad you came out basically untouched.

Glad your okay--and sorry about your bike. But the good news is I guess it's not your time to go...and apparently you have a lot more miles to log. Who says miracles don't happen anymore?

Excellent point! I guess I WAS at the right place at exactly the right time or else I'd be in the hospital or worse right now! Maybe I should have bought a lottery ticket. Nah, I'm sure I used up ALL my luck on this one.

Funny you should mention that. My mother gave me a guardian angel pin about 5 years ago that I always have attached to my back pack. I was wearing it at the time, didn't even think about it until I saw your post!!!
