K1200R opinions?

I was considering a new '07 or '08 Triumph speed-triple, but I came across a 2006 K1200R demo with 3328mi listed for $9990 at my dealer.

It would be a nice solo ride to go along with the LT.

Any opinions on the bike or the deal?

I may try to set up a test ride for this weekend.

I just traded in a 06. I would get them down on the price, depending how it's equiped. You can't give them away out here, so get the best deal you can. Ride it in slow areas, many KS and KRs suffer from jerky FI, which supposedly can be fixed w/ new airbox and SW. They go fast w/ no issues. They never cured mine. The issues are well documented on the other K bike websites. It's a great bike and motor when running correctly...

If it's got ESA and ABS and the sport wheels that's a good deal.

Ride it, you'll love it. That new K motor has INSANE horsepower!

Joe,

I recommend the Triumph Sprint. Very fast bike with color matching bags standard. Very inexpensive too!

I say go for it, but get the dealer to throw in all service bulletins for EU upgrades, the airbox change etc., as part of the deal. I love this bike, and if my wallet and garage would take it I would have one right now. It will glue a huge grin on your face!

There's no mention of ESA or ABS on the web-site.
I'll call today to find out.

It sounds like the airbox is the only major issue to look into.

I like that Sprint, but I'm looking for something outside the "Touring" style.
The LT is my commuter and for when the wife comes along, but I want a bike that I can go out and just tear it up when I'm alone.

That's still more than you would pay for the Speed Triple. Ride them both because they have a very different feel. If ABS is not a big deal to you, I would go with the Triumph. Put a pipe on it; sexiest exhaust note around.

The coolest hooligan bike I've ever ridden was the Aprilia Tuono, but talk about a limited dealer network. BMW ain't got nothin' on Aprilia.
