New Harley brakes.

Our University police got two new Harley's. The new 08s with brembo brakes and new ABS. The picture with the back cap is bearings were Harley hide the ABS sensor. Pretty cool, I think.

They have five person motor unit. They started on BMWs F650GS. The last two just got their motors. They had a mini motor school since Wednesday to get the other two used to riding Harley's. (Sorry for them ) Duct helps damage control when you a learning to ride a new motor through the course. The beancounters hate when you call about damages. Exspeically on a new motor.

Old BMW Brakes....

how long has BMW had Brembo calipers and ABS brakes? 15 years? Wonder how long it will take HD to add steel braided lines....

Their lead instructor is a Harley guy. Has a Harley off duty, harley tattoo etc............. Also the president of university rides a Harley and the Harley owner is university booster, $$$$$$$$$. But I think if they wanted Beemers they probably could've gotten them, if it wasn't for their lead instructor. He also does the maintenance on them cutting the cost.

While looing at HDs last month, I was impressed w/ the way HD hid the ABS. Looks being what's important over there. We rode a Road Glide and really liked it. We bought the Rt anyway...

When BMW introduced antilock brakes on its motorcycles, in 1988 I think, the bikes came with an ABS emblem.

Harley Davidson introduces ABS and they go out of their way to hide the hardware.

Interesting.

That is interesting. I heard, that Harley claimed the ABS sensor ring on the wheel was ugly and did not go with their chrome. LOL

Any truth to the rumor I heard that the ABS pump is housed in the right side saddlebag taking up the entire space in it?

I think the low seat Harley makes a lot more sense for the duty it will receive around a university campus than a BMW with a 32" saddle height! All the more power to them.

Now guys, think about this: do we REALLY WANT the staff at a major university to have the performance of a BMW? You know, rocket-fuel geniuses BUT cannot tie their shoelaces. Thank you! I thought not.
