Some times gear doesn't matter

Got this email form my niece's husband who lives in Texas. Warning: disturbing images.

That has been around so many bike forums recently, - bottom line (whether it's true or not) - do not ride into the back of trucks - ride as fast as you can see, and be prepared to stop before you get to where you can't see - there's no such thing as a bad road - it's just the people on it.
