Accident on I-26 near Ashevile, NC

Yesterday (08-05-07) I was on I-26 somewhere near Asheville, NC and came upon what appeared to be a motorcycle crash that killed at least one person. I am really not sure but there was blood on the hwy and a person covered completely on a stretcher. Traffic was completely stopped both ways on the hwy. for miles. Very emotional for me. Does anyone on this site know more about this?

Sounds Horrible.

Woman killed on I-40 near Canton
The Associated Press
CANTON - Authorities say a 42-year-old Tennessee woman was killed Sunday while riding her motorcycle on Interstate 40.
The state Highway Patrol says Kelly Ogle, of Maryville, Tenn., died when she drifted out of her lane and under the wheels of a tractor trailer. The accident occurred around 3:35 p.m. and backed up traffic for 15 miles.

The patrol says Ogle was traveling west near the 35 mile marker. She rode through a curve and went underneath the 18-wheeler.

A state trooper says inexperience might have played a part in the accident. He says Ogle had only been riding for a few weeks, and was riding with a group of about seven motorcycles when the accident occurred.

The patrol says the truck driver was not at fault, and the group of motorcyclists was not speeding.

Does NC have a law forbidding motorcyclists w/o license to ride on interstates? I doubt she had her license if she has been riding for only 2 weeks.
