And maybe it will teach them a thing or two about reliability. That's what I'd like to see trickle down to their street bikes.

I wonder who they'll get to ride these beasts?

All lower 48 states plus Alaska on the K13GT in two weeks . . .

Some people see the gas tank as half empty. Some see it as half full. All I care is that I know where the next tankful is coming from...

I'll bet good money they won't have a shaft drive!

As for riders, BMW has a lot of money, and there's quite a bit of available talent out there. Neil Hodgsen has been a test mule at Honda and had a 1-off ride with a satellite team at Laguna in AMA Superbike, but he wants a full time job. Max Biaggi needs work, and I'm guessing a few current GP and WSB pilots will be looking for jobs after silly season is over. Brian Pariott has been kicking ass and taking names on the 1200S in Moto-ST. My guess is they'll hire a fw to finalize testing in 08, maybe get in a few races at the end of the season, and then turn them loose for the full 09 season.

So what will BMW do to meet homologation requirements? Is it going to be a true showroom machine or will they just punch out the 1000 pieces to make available to the racers?

I didn't notice any comments in the press release addressing the base machine, other than it is a secret at this time.

If just the 1000 units are built you can have one for oh, about 60G's.

Husky has been a world class off road bike since before the GS was a gleam in BMW daddys eye.
They had 10 world motocross titles between 1960-1970,
I look for it to breathe some fire into the dual-sport line.

I had 3 Husky's and the last world championship was in 74 or 76. The rider was Heikki Mikkola on a 360 CR. Since then the bikes have been average compared to the Japs.

Maybe they will do like Harley did with the VR1000 Superbike. I think they said something about Poland. ; )

Well lets qualify that, being one of the first bikes to, move into the 4 stroke off road arena, they had to pave some paths as they travelled.
