Ride to work day

Our forecast is for 104 and 20% (or less) humidity on Wednesday. Be safe first on a day like that - I know many are in areas where it's like that most of the time - but here in the great North Wet, it's pretty rare.

Temtations are to ride in shorts/sandles/T-shirts - but stay in your airconditioned cage, if that's your garb of choice.

What airline have you been on: The ladies that fix drinks on the ones I fly will exceed the gross weight limitations on my LT.

It's Air France & Gilles is correct. Hey Gilles, sense you is French & this is Air France, tell me what wine to ask for.

I'll second that. For a while there I thought the airlines started hiring the second string waitresses from Denny's.

That was true on the Delta leg of the trip here but, it appears that Air France still has limits.

Every day is ride-to-work day for me, even take the "scenic" route, extending my ride by about 20 miles.

Pretty much for me too. I could run I-95 and be there in just over an hour. I'd rather take RT-1, and the back roads even if it takes about 30 minutes longer.

We have a lot of people who ride to work at my place. We've got three different motorcycle only parking areas. More or less flat and level concrete pads, lined off for bikes. (Now if I could just get them to keep the &%$#^ sand off it in the one slight low place.

I am however about the only one you'll see there in January.

Morning rides are better here in Louisiana, it's been hot and muggy in the afternoons. It lowers a tiny bit the enjoyment factor.

Ride to Work

Every day for me also.35 miles of 2 lane past Ky Lake, from Aurora,Ky to my job selling Harleys at Four Rivers HD in Paducah,KY.45 mins of great 2 lane road, just enough time to wake up in the am,and enough time to unwind in the evening.Gotta watch out for the deer both ways though.Day off today, think we'll go for a ride down the trace through the LBL to Paris Landing, humidity's dropping and no rain till pm.Just scored a full set of Widder electrics for winter riding, gloves, vest, and chaps.I'll ride as long as there's no ice. Also just bought a combi camp pop up tent trailer to pull behind the Roadglide, looking forward to some camping once the weather cools down.

Cool

I have a 20 block walk to the office. I guess I could pull her out of the garage and run up and down Broadway a couple of times.

Cheers,

Must be nice to work for an elightened employer. At the last place I worked I asked them a month in advance if they would make some kind of show of support for Ride to Work Day -- special temporary parking, etc., etc. There reply was: "We actually discourage bikes in our employee parking lot. It damages the asphalt, blah blah blah..." I started to explain how a concrete strip through designated m/c parking spots would eliminate that issue (the reply from the facilities manager of this multibillion global company was "that's not in the budget..."), and how we would all use sidestand plates, etc. It was wasted breath. Good for you, though.
