Smile Dupont Teflon Wheel Cleaner - Works as advertized so far!

While in Lowes picking up some stuff I noticed this 32 Oz spray-on foaming wheel cleaner that says it makes it easier to clean and repels brake dust. Since I have a 1/2 mile gravel drive way I traverse on a daily basis I am interested in anything that will help keep my wheels clean or make them easier to clean.

Sprayed it on and waited the requisite 60 seconds and without any hand scrubbing the wheels came out great with only the hose spray off..

Yes. I have tried " Wheel Wax " and continued use has been disappointing in keeping off or repelling dust for the price and work involved thus far.
*If this new product does not "Repel" dust, it atleast makes it very easy to clean the wheels !!! 32 Oz bottle was $5.98 and seems well worth it as it took only a few squirts to cover both wheels of the LT.

I would be concerned about "teflon" (as in slippery) over spray on the tires but I see you have a gravel road to ride so that should scrub it off.

I'd be even more concerned with overspray on the brakes!

Wheel cleaner

Thanks for the tip on the wheel cleaner. I washed and then put on "Protect All" on the bike this week. The only thing that I don't like to wash are the wheels. Sometimes I just let them go or spray them off at the carwash. I will go by Lowe's and pick up some.

Bamabear,

Your welcome and good luck with it -

Cleaning the wheels manually seems to take the longest and the bike is not "Done" without clean wheels. Good luck - I think you will find it as easy to clean as I did.

Jerry.. I think those guys may be trying to take advantage of 'ya!

But I would never do that... next time you need a new bottle of wheel cleaner, you just give me the $450.00 and I will deliver you a brand new bottle... and I won't even charge 'ya for going to get it!

How's that for a good friend??

Is this product banned from California?
I checked Lowes, Wall Mart, K-Mart and Target, plus Autozone and Pepboys with no luck on finding it here.

Could very well be. Teflon is on the "endangered chemical" list and manufacturers must remove it from their products by a certain date. I know our boys in the lab are working overtime to find a substitute...

I have just started using this stuff myself. I am now getting 58-60 mpg, have not had a rear end bearing failure and no tire cupping.
Also the rear brake no longer squeals.
