Mo betta "Gotcha"

Actually got hit in the helmet with a piece on a recent ride but having seen enough of these come apart I had already slowed and put on my flashers. Evidently the big truck behind me radio'd ahead because the truck in front of me put his signal on nearly instantaneously, though he didn't reach the shoulder before I caught some shrapnel.
BTW. The head was decapitated but they don't have that part posted yet.

Sometimes you can get so fixated on the fact that you are right that you lose sight of the reality that it doesn't matter.

A few years back, in the So Kal area, a reefer's load tie-down latch (or piece of it) broke loose and flew through a vehicle's front windshield--killing 2 occupants inside. Talk about a freak accident.

I got one for ya. I was sitting at a light, wearing my HJC flip-shield helmet. Open face helmet with permanently mounted flip shield. I see a piece of something in the intersection. About a second later, a dump truck hits it and flips it into my face. It knocked my head back it hit so hard. Sounded like a gunshot in my helmet. The piece landed in my lap and the light turned green so I stuck it in my pocket without looking. When I got where I was going, I pulled it out. A 4" round steel flange, bent double (had been flattened), that was about 3/16" thick. The gouge on my shield was at my nose. I feel like it would have broken my nose and possibly knocked me out or at least loopy, had I not had face protection in that case.

Gotta be on the lookout all the time, even when stopped, for things that can ruin our day.

Good reason to have face protection--even standing still.
