You'll get a kick out of this...

I went into a custom saddlemaker in Milwaukee to see if he could help with that torture device know as the BMW stock seat. In the store was a guy, wearing the traditional Harley duds who had seen me pull up on the LT. We get into a discussion about the bike and he actually says to me... competely seriously, that the problem with BMW's is that their riders don't ride them. As a basis for this statement he tells me that 30 years ago he bought a 4 year old used Beemer with less than a thousand miles on it. I tried to explain to this guy that my experience with BMW riders was quite the opposite but he just blew it off. All I can say is wow!

If you want to see a bunch of low milage Harley's go to any charity ride. The parking lot is full of bikes that have $10,000 worth of accessories on them and less than 1000 miles on the odo.

I ran into a guy who had 3 yr old f650 that he had just finished the 600miles for a break in tuneup. The guy was unapologetic, said it was his toy that he only plays with when he feels like it. He probably fit the demographic of a BMW car owner (to resurrect an old word, Yuppie), and I have found many people think the cars and bikes are ridin/drivin by the same people.

I know a lot of high mileage HD guys who can hang w/ the best of them on a long ride. I guess it all depends on the individual.

I just sold mt 00RT to a guy who seems to have no plans to ride it on any long rides or even commute on it. I stil dont know why he bought the bike, but his money was green so he can do what he wants w/ it.

The seat guy formed his opinion a long time ago, but almost everyone I tell that I have a BMW knows that their built to ride coast to coast and back

How about Sturgis, when we went by there on our ride last year, all I saw were the trucks and trailers. No HD rider would get caught dead riding his HD, he might get it dirty....
