Question Louisville KY to Madison WI

I am looking for a scenic route from Louisville to Madison. Would like to miss the interstate but still need to make fairly good time. Thanks in advance.

Well it depends on how much time you want to spend .. but an easy to remember route with good scenery and some curves now and again to keep you interested... US150 out of Louisville.. and stay on it until you get to Bloomington/Normal, IL, connect to US251 North and stay on it until Beloit, WI where it becomes US 51 follow 51 all the way into Madison, WI. Being all US highways you will go through a number of towns larger and small and it will take a while, but it is the journey and not the destination in most cases. Along the way you will get a taste of hills, rivers, HUGE farms state forests and more.
That being said there are several other optional roads with MORE curves that will take a bit longer but might be worth it.. If they might be of interest I can patch in a couple for more fun. Feel free to email.. [email protected]

PS.. update your info to tell us what you ride? if you are coming through on a day I am free I might even meet you for lunch :<)

Whatever you do avoid Chicago if you need to make good time. Traffic runs from bad to horrendous. Just how much time do you have for this trip? If I had a little time I'd swing wide and come into Madison from the west... some very nice roads in that direction. I'd pick up Hwy 20 at Rockford and head west to Galena then head north and catch 151. That will take you into Madtown. As the previous post mentioned it will also take you through some towns. When are you going to be in the area, send a PM if you want to go riding.
