BMW R1200 wins at VIR

Nate Kern on the r1200 MotoST bike won at VIR on 4/29. Awesome talent this guy has. He had no problems winning. Made it look easy for Team Xplor. I didn't know the guy and was taking a picture of the bike as it was loaded on the trailer. Guy came up and spoke and I asked his name. "Nate" he said. WOW. Great guy with a ton of talent. He invited me back for the race in June, so I gotta go! I mean I got a personal invite, right?? lol But Nate and teammate had them covered. Awesome event for my first Moto race. Weather was perfect. Ride out and back was perfect. GReat day for racing.

Thanks for the entertainment guys. Sorry the other team did not fare so well (rear drive failure apparently).

I looked at his website and some other stuff. He really seems to be a genuinely good guy. He's racing in a different series in June at VIR. Loves racing apparently. Talented.

I visited with Nate at BMW of Atlanta today. He told me he was posting 1 min 58 second laps. They made some changes to the bike on Saturday night that weren't in his favor, but he was a happy with the win.

He finally has a street M/C license and is riding a R1200S on the street.

You can read Nate's Blog here and his web site is here, albeit is a little out of date. I'll have to do some prodding next time I see him.

He won by a lot, like 23 seconds, so the changes still worked.

Interesting (funny?) that he "finally" has a street license. Of course, he probably has enough fun and feels safer on the track.

His comments exactly.

And actually the changes didn't really work, he had a forearm cramp by the 5th lap. He likes the clutch reach shorter and kind of mushy, it was longer reach than he wanted and stiffer than he likes, but still 23 second lead is a win any anybody's book.

And I think they had a penalty near the end?
