HyperPro Shocks - Group Buy - Any Interest?

I was volunteered by my friend Gilles to scope out a group buy on HyperPro shocks. I am happy to do this, but would like to gauge interest before approaching any vendors on this.

Kindly respond to this thread and let me know if front and/or rear shocks desired, year and model of your bike. Your response is not a commitment to purchase.

I'll tabulate the responses and see what I can come up with for us . . .

By the way, Gilles, you know what they say about payback, right?

I have Ohlins on my bike but sure would like a HyperPro steering damper!
If you have stock shocks with more than 7.5 K miles REPLACE THEM it is a JoY!

Why Hyperpro vs. Wilburs or Ohlins? More curious than anything else, I will be buying a set of one of these this summer...care to enlighten us?

Very fair question.

Here's a current thread on Wilbers not being available in the USA any more.

Brother Gilles (Zippy_GG) volunteered me near the end of the thread to look for a deal on HyperPro shocks. Happy to help, and I'll get him back another time.

I saw that and you beat me to the punch, I should have said I will be buying Ohlins or Hyperpro in the near future (K1200LT f/r) I will NOT buy Wilburs due to their crappy policies.

HyperPro Shocks - Group Buy - Any Interest?

I need to replace the shocks on the RT, preferably with something .5-.75" shorter than stock.

I'd be interested in a set (front & rear) for my 02 LT, especially if I could get them in like a +.5"-+.75".

I would be interested, but price would be a big factor. I really don't know if I want to spend a bunch more money on a 2000 LT. jrlakin

Based on the HyperPro USA site the rears for a 1999> are $499 (ea.) and front is the same.
Sooo at list, to replace all 4 shocks it's $2K?

That's w/o the remote reservoir attachment for the rear which is an additional $250 each.

Hmmm, guess I'll go the route "If' it's not broke, don't even mess with it!"

I'd be interested in a front and rear for a 2004 LT. Stock heights. Probably a steering damper also.

I have sent an request to HyperPro's "contact us" system inquiring about the availability of different spring rates based on typical load for the application.

I have Ohlins on the LT, but am considering upgrading the 12GS.

Will report back with their reply.

I would be interested in a pair of HyperPro shocks if they;

- Offer springs installed that address the typical loads anticipated, a la Ohlins.
and
- Offer a discount of, say, 20% off web list.

Once I get "wishes" tabulated in a week or so, I will approach them to see what they can do for us.

I'm Shocked

I almost ordered Wilburs last week but now am glad I didn't.

Assuming Hyperpro has provision for springing a'la' Olins I would be in for front, rear and steering damper for an 03. I need to be able to get springs for max rated load.

Thanks for "volunteering" Tony.

I'm in for front and rear shock and steering damper.... 2000 LT

That Type 41 GP shock sure sounds nice.....

I'll tell ya this much, at those prices, I could buy front and rear shocks for the LT at close to the same price I paid for 1 (one) rear Ohlins drag shock....

Question

I have one concern: I didn't see a remote pre-load adjuster option such as the one on the Wilbers and Ohlins to mimic the stock BMW rear shock.

Yuup.. there is a model with a remote reservoir AND a buncha adjust-a-ments. Low speed, high speed, dampening.. etc.... not only "preload".

I like the infinite spring preload ability of this shock. With the fully adjustable high and low speed compression and rebound dampening, you could really tune that shock in for a perfect ride.

Thumbs up

Mark me down as a "definate maybe" for both front and rear, OK? I'm also interested in knowing about the "customizability" of these shocks for different loads (1-up vs 2-up).

Let me know if this moves forward.

Your other concern should be that when I order these I am going to have them drop-shipped to your home and you will get to repackage and send out the individual orders.

Steering damper

I don't need shocks, but I sure would like a steering damper if they would do this separate from the group buy on shocks!

Thanks,

Gene Sweeney

??

My 06' LT has almost 8K miles, are you saying I should change the shocks and will see some real improvments? I switch a lot between 1 and 2 up riding and need to be able to make quick and easy adjustments to change between riding styles.

Now that turbo looks sweet though!

Pre-Load

Has it been determined if the rear shock has an easy to reach spring pre-load adjustment? If it does put me down for front/rear and steering dampner '04 K12LT.

Wow, I've seen your house! It's BIG. I guess since we are all friends, you should host a tech session and we can all ride in and not have to stop at the front gate.

I'm looking to get front and rear tailored to my riding style, and weight etc. I'm not familar with this company though, so more research is needed before I could commit.
Also, just a note, I have spoken to Klaus a while back about changing the ride height (for me I wanted to add some height for more clearance) and was told that the LT is very sensitive to height adjustments and he recommeded against it. Just an FYI

They look good , But why not go with Ohlins they are proven. Kyle Racing sells Ohlins for 20% off msrp.

Group Buy Update

I just got off the telephone with the USA Distributor for the HyperPro shocks. I've provided a link to this thread so he can gauge some of the interest and also look through the forums on other group buys.

He is checking with the home office in Holland to see what they can bring to the table. I expect an update from him in the next day or two.

He had some interesting ideas on how to make the group buy "fun," but it is yet too early to discuss these here. I think you all will be pleased if we can work this out.

IF YOU HAVE AN INTEREST in the group buy (Shocks and/or Dampers), and you have not yet posted to this thread, please post NOW so Steve can get a better feel for how many of us might be in if he can make the right deal for members here.

Thanks!

Tony

Would this include just the springs that they offer for replacement on the OEM shocks?
