Exclamation Three days of preparations before 'Lift Off'!

Well...I guess the countdown is officially ON. Oh boy! Not sure if this elevated heart rate is excitement . . . or nervousness. Probably a little of both. I better get my headset installed in my new Nolan. Yea...that's it. Keep my mind busy so I can't think of the other million things I have to do before lift-off, Saturday at O'dark thirty. Lordy me! So THIS is what dreams are made of!

For those of you who don't know what I'm talking about, CLICK. For the rest, I'll see ya when I get there!

Joe, you have a great trip planned and I'm looking forward to hearing about it when all the dust has settled (and tickets are paid for, court appearances made, and community service hours completed, etc. ). I hope you get the headset installed and any bugs worked out soon.

Ride carefully and have a great time... although that admonition isn't necessary because I know you will.

What is your route and timing through Ohio? Any chance others could be along the route to wave as you zip by?

Yes -- great idea.

Uh... what day would that be? I know you're leaving this weekend some time. If it's this Saturday, 4/21, I'm meeting up with John Bowles at 12:30 at I-270 and I-71 -- right on your flight path. Not asking you to change your timing, just an FYI.

Just let me know what day. (oh goodie... I get my pic taken with messy13 again... now where's my scrapbook? )

I won't be washing my bike at all. This ain't my first long ride. I wish I had a dollar for every time I washed my bike, only to get dumped on 5 minutes down the road. No more!

Clean windshield = good enough.

That's fine, but if I'm meeting you somewhere on I-71 (north side? south side?) I better be leaving the house by that time. Remember: at home I don't have consistent cell coverage. If you call the cell and get no answer, leave a msg AND then call the home #.

My plan is to be geared up and ready to go early Saturday to meet you at your mysterious, undisclosed location at 9:00 a.m. Then John and I are riding over to Hamilton, OH to see a man about a trailer.

That's cool. Don't want to slow you down too much, just wanted to say hi and send you off proper ya know. Maybe we'll all stay hooked up to Hamilton.
See you guys then.

BTW - in Columbus now. Rode up last night. Did the whole 500 miles after dark. Got in at 4:30Am and feel great. The turnpike was really cool after midnight with no traffic and the HID lighting up all the reflectors and deer. Maybe there's an iron butt in me somewhere.

Thumbs up

Joe-
Have a great trip and remember your ride is a dream for most of us poor bastards tied to a desk. This rides for you but understand we are all with you (except for the sore butt, crappy weather, aching back piece) so take good pictures when you can and every now and then drop us a status report of your adventure. When you get back we can have a party at Howards. You can do a slide show of your trip with narration by Uncle Rock. Take care and stop and smell the roses.

PS - You know about half way thru the trip your going to want that old LT back again.

Joe, Lemme know if you want me to round up a group for a dinner Monday evening, whether local or short RTE. I'm thinking fried catfish maybe. I'm sure Dallas Q can't hold a candle to the Hill Country Q you'll be getting on Tuesday.

Yea buddy! T - 24 hours and counting. I'll be posting my where-abouts as I ride. Would like to meet as many riders as possible. And I'm hoping to try to stay disciplined enough to keep taking pics. It's so easy to just say "Aw screw it", and stop taking them. (At least for me it is. )

Joe was going to meet John Bowles and I on his way through Columbus tomorrow morning, but he took a second look at his itinerary and schedule and decided against it. You gotta do what ya gotta do, but I washed the bike (taking great pains to get all the bug guts off of it) AND put a new tire on... just for YOU, Joe. I even cleaned the helmet.

Have a great trip.

Going to bed. Bike's ready to go. This is going to ROCK!!!

In the wind Joe, ride safe and have a great time.
I noticed that your not coming thru the Knoxville area on this trip, maybe next time.
