Welcome. I just bought a Y2K LT last month myself. This is a great community with many helpful and knowldedgable people. You should read the FAQs and learn about your bike. You should see if the maintenance is all up to date, and if not, you will find much guidance here about how to bring it up to date, as well as performing some useful mods to keep your bike working well.

How many miles on your bike? Did you buy it from a dealer or a private party?

If you look at the map and don't care where you are, you're not lost.

Me too. First Timer.

I too am a First Time buyer of a R1200Rt. Owned lots of bikes and ridden for more than 40 years but this is the first BMW that fit. OK, that's not completely true. A long time ago a r80 got mixed up in a trade and spent some time in my garage, but I don't count it.

Looking forward to tech imput and invitations to events from this website. It's marked in my FAVs page so... will continue to read and enjoy.

Bought used K1200LT number 3. This one is green/teal with 31,369(now 7/29/2018 54,143) miles and is an '02. The first 2 bikes made it to near 150,000 miles.

Due to heart health, the Dr says not to ride under 40 degree air temp. Ugh! Now it is harder to get my 18000 miles a year in just in the summer. Guess that stopped my 20 degree rides now.

New owner, new this site

So I've been looking at BMW's for about six years. I've been riding something older and not a BMW for 3yrs now. This week I have made a deal on a '91k100LT. The Title will be in my hands in a couple days, however the cycle is in Dallas. It won't be until Apr 12th before I fly down and ride it home....it going to be a long five weeks.

Lt Now in Plano

Actually I have a friend who used to live with our family who is in Plano. He took and has the LT now in his garage. I bought a ticket and plan to fly down the evening of Apr 12 and leave the next morning on the cycle for the ride home. The owner put a new battery in it for me and it was at the dealer about 2k miles ago for tune up and a few other things. Thanks for the offer.
