Unhappy End of the road...

Saw my old bike today, I had a 99 basalt that i sold a few months back. I put about 70,000 mi on that bike which included a 4 corners USA tour and a couple of undocumented SS1000. Toss in a couple trips from Mex to Canada and back. It also carried me to CCR in Breckenridge.

The bike was bought at the local dealer by a really nice Gal, I'm not sure, I think it may have been her first big bike. The guys at the shop all like her.
Well she put about another 6K on it and was then rearended while stopped at a light. Amazingly, it did not knock her down but hit her hard enough to total the bike.

The Flying Couch is done... off to auction with the remains.

On the upside, the owner enjoyed the bike so much she bought a brand new LT and is back out there! Hope I get to meet her some day!

Sad end, but if nobody was physically injured then that alone is truly something to be thankful for.

You had me worried there Keith. I thought maybe you were going to quit riding altogether, or something stupid like that. Sorry to hear about the lady's misfortune. But I'm glad you're still with us.

Even though we form attachments

... it's only hardware. I'm glad she's alright!
As much as I think I love my LT, it's really the make/model that to be admired. What a great engineering job!

Regards,
John

My favorite movie line ever from the World's Fastest Indian! When Burt is in the horsepistol after his heart attack and the Dr. tells him his riding day's are over.

"Like hell they are."

Now, about that boat of yours.....

Just like Joe said, when I saw your post title, I was thinking: "oh shit!" Glad noone was hurt.

"Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety." (Some really OLD friggin' White dude who couldn't have possibly known what he was talking about!) WARNING: Official HATE speech!
