Which island? My daughter is living on the Big Island and stays in touch with the riding crowd even though she left her bike on the mainland. Just a casual observation from my trips there, it is a cruiser haven. I'll ask her what site(s) she recommends.

Thanks for serving.

A quick search of google resulted in this...

http://www.hawaiiforums.org/HawaiiRiders/

There is a BMW dealer in Honolulu. Oahu is pretty crowded and the traffic can be a nightmare from a riding perspective. I love riding on the Big Island. Lots of good riding.

Brian,
Sorry my daughter didn't come up with anything. She is very turned off by the flip flop, tank top, no helmet, island style of riding. Apparently she doesn't frequent the local forums.

Bslong,

Hey, just got back from a weekend trip to Oahu and did the rental thing. The BMW he has was out (it's always out) so I wound up with a Road King with sick brakes and no suspension, but at least I got to ride all day and night over the weekend.

Many places to rent until you get up to speed at your new assignment and get your own machine.

Seriously, though, what a beautiful place to ride, and a great shot of the ocean. I used to spend a fair amount of time on Oahu up at HM Smith. Never had much time to see much daylight, let alone ride, but at least there was ocean air.

[Short sleeves, no lid? All that's missing are the flip-flops and shorts, or are those shorts you're awearin'? Better watch out, the ATGATT police are looking for you.]

Lived on Oahu for 5 years, rode everyday, if you dont mind the afternoon shower almost everyday, you will love it. No fault insurance there though, a bit steep compared to the mainland, but so is gas, milk, bread, etc. Try shop at the base exchange as much as possible for everyday essentials. The traffic can be a nightmare around waikiki, watch for cagers, they dont see you at all. I was on the windward side, Kaneohe marine corps air station
