BIG thumbs up to Garmin Customer Service

Rental car as I am waiting on my insurance company to screw me...uh I mean settle my claim, so I'm using the "bean bag dash mount" for my Garmin 2730 (the permanent mount is still stuck on what used to be a BMW 5-series) on top of the P.O.S. Accord rental I have been driving. 90-degree turn, 15 mph, certainly nothing pushing "maximum g's, dude!" by any means, and i watch the thing slide off the dash...

Well, if you've read ANYTHING I've posted since October 19th, you understand that there's no chance in HELL that I am gonna' take my hands off of 10 and 3...and just like a buttered piece of bread, my GPS flips as it falls and the touchscreen lands right on the damn gearshift. Pull over at the next gas station, the outer screen is still one piece, underneath looks like a giant spiderweb of shattered glass.

Call Garmin customer service, lady tells me "no, that's not under warranty, send it to us and we can fix it for $345.00."

I told her "I am really, really disappointed as I was using the mounting option that YOU include in the box when the item is purchased."

She says, "well, I can understand sir, normally I have authority to give you 50% off of that, which i will minimally do, but give me a minute or two to go and talk to my supervisor and explain what happened, maybe i can come up with something."

Two minutes later, she comes back on the line and tells me Garmin will repair the unit at no cost to me.

Someone just earned a customer for life.

Cheers everyone...
