Border crossing US to Canada

Hi to all: I had to call my insurance Co. misplaced my proof of insurance card and thought I might need it at the Canadian border crossing tomorrow. Agent told me I needed a special letter stating the insurance was good in Canada and it might take a number of working days to write and mail? I have Progressive Ins.
Has anyone been to the border and been turned away for not having this document??? Thanks. Denny

Been back and forth a whole bunch of times. Never been asked for my proof of insurance card. Probably because I have one (from Progressive) that says it's good in Canada. You can print a proof of insurance card off the Progressive website. That should be good enough for any problem you might run into in Canada.

Canadfian Insurance Card

I went north from Ohio through Ontario & Quebec to The BMWMOA Rally in VT.
Progressive fax'd me a copy and then followed up with a hard copy by snail mail.

I just showed my passport, DL and Insurance card at the border and through I went!

Cool

Just crossed from Port Angeles, WA to Victoria, BC, Canada and wasn't asked for anything except my passport - no insurance info.

Done it twice, did get the special card from Progressive both times, but wasn't asked for it. If I didn't have I know I would have been caught.

Just crossed lat night at Sault St Marie. Only asked for the passport, even though that was Australian, nothing else.
