Anyone test drove XR, or have one already?

There are many good reviews of the new S 1000XR out there.
Just wonder if any of LT owners have tried it or have already purchased one - if so how was the switch over?
I'm thinking about test driving it and possibly getting it as an addition to my LT, which I can't imagine being replaced for long distance trips.
Any thoughts?

Thanks,
BJ

Re: Anyone test drove XR, or have one already?

I took a demo ride on a 2016 S1000XR back in Sept.
The seat looks very hard but actually they are very comfy, but I only did 20 miles,
It handled very well, I had a passenger also.
The shifting from 1,2,3,4,5,6,are very close, the motor wines up very quick!! Kind of like the K1600.
I think it would be a great bike for around town or short rides up to
100 miles or so.
Would be a different ride to the K1200LT for sure.

I test rode one.

Kinda tall, very light, and tons of power mated to a GS-style long-travel suspension chassis with wide off-road style bars that make it feel just like a big ol' SuperMoto.

It's no über-tourer (and wasn't meant to be), it has some vibration (but not as much as a Boxer or Ducati), and it definitely needs better wind protection, but it's stupid easy to ride very quickly down almost any road conditions.

You'll probably find more opinions on some of the BMW sport-touring boards.

There was some discussion on the K1600 forum, including a thoughtful review from a member who bought one.

I always said that I wanted a GS with a smooth inline-4, so I'm intrigued. Not for two-up, but for a solo hooligan-style bike with BMW refinement and amenities. Maybe if I could take it to AeroFlow and let Paige work his magic . . .

All lower 48 states plus Alaska on the K13GT in two weeks . . .

Some people see the gas tank as half empty. Some see it as half full. All I care is that I know where the next tankful is coming from...

Thanks for the link, Ken

The write up on K1600 forum is interesting and something that I was looking for.
