Yep, dash mounted police cruiser camera. I think the rider will get it over and done with before he has a chance to breed and further contaminate the species.

Holy Cow

He wasn't wearing a helmet, smacked his head against the pavement, undoubtedly has some nice road rash... he must be in shock to be walking around like that.

Didn't the biker see the cruiser? The officer has to be chuckling as he walks up to the guy.

Watch as the officer motors up to the scene. It looks like the kids helmet popped off when he hit and is laying on the pavement. Don't see how he could have survived the impact without one. I bet he is hurtin' in the morning.

No Helmet

I just went though it frame by frame. Unless the helmet was black, all I could see was the black of the hair on his head. Could be wrong it is a poor vid.

Not sure about the helmet, but if you look at the stuff in the gutter as the timer reads 16:30:00 to about :03, it sure looks like one laying there. Although, he may have had it strapped the the back seat where it wouldn't be in his way.

I think its his now removed tail section of his recently thrashed bike. Didja notice he dropped it again just before the officer orders him to the curb?

Cool warranty claim

As soon as his Dad gets him free, they can run down to the rice burner shop and file that warranty claim.

Man, you guys are harsh! He really did have a nice wheelie going there until his head bounced off the pavement.... no way you can smack the gray matter that hard without a concussion - unless -

there is none!

I still can't believe he could stand up and apparently walk straight after that... he had to have some serious swelling going on.

No he did not not do a 'nice' wheelie A 'nice' wheelie (hell lets stop mincing words and call it what it is, a STUNT) is done in a controlled enviroment( track private lot, whatever) where you and your actions are not a danger to other people

Yep, how easy it would be for that bike to go careening into some kids or people walking their dog. Boggles the mind.

This is interesting - unless the police car was unmarked, then the kid never saw it parked on the side of the road. Then, he drops the bike in front of the officer and it looks like the officer grabs him right at the end. I can't get the clip to play again to see.

Given that the kid seems unscathed, I'd bet he was drunk or under the influence.

Yup, another typical irresponsible sport biker ruining it for all us respectable dirty biker scum on our "Harley Type" bikes. They're all a bunch of stunt riding, public endangering, punk-ass idiots anyway...what else do you expect? Oh, wait...was I stereotyping the wrong knid of bike on this board...oops...sorry. Hehehe...not.

To put yourself in this particular Sport Bike Moron's shoes...try this on for size. The cop is hidden from behind (billboard, parked truck, etc.), the kid is wheelie-ing happily along minding his own business like any respectable sport biker would do when he catches sight of the cop out of the corner of his eye and panics...BAM! He's on his back. Maybe he should sue the cop for ruining his stunt! (don't worry, I'm just kidding...about suing the cop)

Riders such as this fine, upstanding member of the community, actually ride reckless in front of officers on purpose--hoping that the officer gives chase. If the officer gives chase, the rider has no intention of stopping.

An officer has to be very careful about being "baited" by these clowns. It can get real dangerous real quick. Then, when someone dies, everybody wants to blame the officer!

What you see in the video is always what happens to these guys--sooner or later. That's why I never try and chase them.

Hey Jay, I've listened to these guys discuss this. They talk about y'alls proclivity for turning a certain direction when sight is lost and other tactics.

This leads me to believe, that since they know your training, that there must be a sport bike mole in a cop shop somewhere. Undercover sport biker?

Well, if the officer is in SO CA, he would be running interference for the pedestrians and against the vehicles! (For some strange reason, drivers in SO CA think of the sidewalk as another lane of the roadway!)

Yes, Grif, you are right! I don't believe that there is a "cop mole," however. Just like any other dangerous criminal type, they do exchange intel and tactics--usually over the net.

The only chance you have is if a helo is up and very close. Really, however, it doesn't make much difference. At the speeds these guys are riding, the slightest mistake, the smallest object in the roadway, etc, and they're down!

You might last a couple months riding like that (at least in SO CA) then you're done!

Interesting.

So... maybe taking the idea of red-light cameras and speed cameras one step farther, maybe we should install fake cruiser lights at intersections. Triggered by the visual profile and/or sound of a sport bike, the lights would come on for a few seconds after the bike passes them; the biker, thinking a LEO is behind him, panics and makes his bad move causing himself to crash. An actual LEO's safety is not endangered and the motoring world has one less nut on a crotch rocket to worry about for awhile.

Just thinking out loud.

Hey Howard,

You are very close to reality! More and more cities in SO CA are using "decoys." They will park a marked patrol vehicle (unoccupied) in a conspicuous spot in a high crime area.

When I'm in my marked vehicle, noone seems to notice me--no matter how visible I am. Maybe the secret is to get out of the vehicle! (LOL)

A couple of years ago in Santa Monica, a guy killed 10 people driving on the sidewalk! Maybe we need a waiting period on those "assault vehicles!"

Hey, I know that officer. He is a deputy sheriff with our county. He had just finished writing a ticket and was parked on the sidewalk. He is in unmarked Dodge Charger, blue in color, tinted windows, when this guy does the wheelie. That is why the video is still on.

He was wearing a helmet

You can see the helmet come off, then lay in the gutter as the cruiser moves in. Lucky, yes. But without that helmet he would have been toast.
