Reminder to be careful

My dealer has a wrecked LT laying on it's side, front end all smashed up. Apparently a car pulled in front of him. The guy is OK, but busted up pretty good. It's just a reality check that we need to be very careful riding and always anticipate what could happen. Ride safe.

Really Careful!

My buddy has just sent me some email sequence photos of a high speed accident (175mph) involving a GSX R1000. The photos are too graphic for this site, but let's just say that the rider was left as road kill.

Ride for yourself as well as the other guy anticipating the mistake that he'll make right in front of you! What else can we say?

I can attest to being careful. My accident involved a car making a U turn in front of me with not enough time to stop. I got slowed a great deal, but couldn't stop.

I don;t know what else I could have done in the situation. You can "what if" it to death, but I don;t know what else I could have done under the circumstances. I didn;t have time to think "what if". I rounded a blind turn at teh posted speed limit (55 mph)and a car made a uturn on a US highway . I could have been going slower or faster and possibly missed them. I have ridden this road all my adult life and never even seen anyone pulled over at that spot, much less make a u TURN there, so it was not even in my realm of possibilities. It is now.

Tourists are as unpredictable as deer. And tourists drive automobiles. As teh tourism industry grows here, I am reminded almost daily to be vigilant.

Ya'll do be carefull out there. And if you ARE being a tourist, bemindful of the situation you are in and don;t do anything stupid yourself. The locals aren't expecting it.
