Question extra key

Do any of you fellow riders carry an extra bike key. If so where do you keep it?

Yes, I keep an extra key in my pocket, with the remote for the alarm attached.

Ever since the key fell of the ignition while I was removing it, and I had to spend 20 minutes to retrieve it from the steering area, I keep a spare (the tiny one with no rounded head) with my house keys in my pocket.

extra key

I keep one in the trunk, one in the Jewelry box, one in my under... ah you don't want to know that... Also keep one of the remotes on the bike . . . Some place.

Course, I do not need a key to get into my bike.

Got one ziptied in an accessible spot. On both bikes. Used to rely on the inside jacket pocket, then a buddy got his jacket ripped off, I changed strategy. I'd hate to be stuck across the country.

And you KNOW you'll only lose the key at 3pm on a Sunday or some other ridiculous time.

Dual-purpose magnets

While experimenting with magnets that would change those stubborn red traffic lights to green, I bought two magnets at Home Depot and put them on the bottom of my LT. They fixed that problem alright! Upon preparing to depart for a rather lengthy trip, I decided I needed to hide a key somewhere on the bike. So I took one of the metal spares and just stuck it to one of those magnets. That was about 40K miles ago. A few weeks ago when I was preparing the bike to sell it, I found that key still stuck to that magnet. Made me chuckle...

My new GT's keys have the "chip inside" and are $60 a piece for replacements. I don't think I'll be sticking them onto any magnets anytime soon.
