Curious

I was reading another post on another forum and a member there just hit
200k miles since taking up riding. Got me to thinking about how many miles I've ridden in the course of 40+ years and 5 continents. I can't even come up with a good estimate because I never really kept track that closely. Best I can calculate I'm over a million easy, even though I've slowed down on miles the past couple years.
So what is your best calculation on miles ridden since you started?

ps... thought this might be a fun topic

Re: Curious

I've also been riding about 40 years and have no real idea since I've never kept track. My job keeps me from riding as much as I would like to, but my best guess is probably 250K miles.

Re: Curious

I started riding in the early 1980s and have had four bikes over that period. Between all of the bikes I would guess somewhere between 250,000 and 300,000 km. I have accumulated the most km over the shortest period with the RT which is mostly a matter of available time. Every year since 2011 we have been able to take a 3 to 4 week summer holiday on my bike, 2011 was on my ST1100. Before that we had one big trip in 2000 but the other years we would get away for a long weekend here or there but not many long tips. Before 1999 I had a 600 Yamaha and it wasn't really built for touring though I did take a trip to West Virginia in the early '90s on it with a bunch of guys, I think there where 8 of us. My first bike was a 1980 Yamaha 400 Special wan't good for touring, only found it comfortable for an hour or little more at a time, really surprising that I bought another bike after that because the bug did not really bite till I tasted the power of the FJ 600 which would be pretty mild by today's standards.

Re: Curious

Wow, good question. Started riding at 11 on a Honda Trail 70. Rode multiple progressively larger dirt bikes (2 street bikes) for about 12 years, took a 20 year hiatus (rode some but didn't own any), been riding for about 15 solid again. So.........a lot of miles but not nearly enough. Wouldn't venture a guess how many but I'm sure it's much less than a million. How's that for exact?
