Radio following battery replace

I just purchased a used '02 1200 LT Elite with 17K miles. The previous owner said the radio stopped working after the battery was replaced. The display lights and nothing else happens. All ideas appreciated. Thank you!

This might sound strange, but try this. Disconnect the battery for a few minutes, reconnect and see if that works. The reason is sometimes the radio brains get confused, the disconnect clears that.
