Battery to Battery

I have a question to which I have not been able to find an answer in previous posts.

I use my car on a daily basis and my bike at weekends. Both vehicles are parked quite a way from an electrical socket. I was therefore wondering if I could "trickle charge" the bikes battery from the carīs battery on a nightly basis without doing any damage to either of the batteries.

Thanks in advance for any opinions or suggestions.

Re: Battery to Battery

Here is something that would work but I think a extension cord and a battery tender would be the way to go.

Re: Battery to Battery

Graham, just out of interest I have looked at various portable solar panel systems.

Interesting concept.

Prices still quite high, but they are bound to come down in the long term. A must have nowadays if going camping with all the electronic gadgets we take with us.

Thanks.

Re: Battery to Battery

Hello simoncharles

Why would the bike battery need to be charged daily ? just riding it on the weekends should be enough what with a 60AMP alternator .
If one had to one could get a power converter but a good one with a low battery cut off (12VDC to 120VAC) and plug into it a small trickle charger .

Hi Bob,

Donīt have a problem at the moment, just wondering in case I have to go away for a few weeks leaving both vehicles at home. As the Scouts say "Be prepared" !
