Cool -- K1200LT Power outlet adapter --

Hello Everybody

I am the proud new owner of a K1200LT 2006 and new to this forum as well. I know that there is a power outlet on the front of the bike, but my Garmin Nuvi 350 requires a 12v standard cigarette socket. Is there any adapter so I can use the current power outlets with devices that require the 12v standard socket?

Thanks in advance

Ralph.

The power sockets that the K1200LT comes with are called Powerlet or BMW sockets. Here is Powerlet's webpage for reference. They are available elsewhere.

Another option is to hardwire your GPS into the bike's wiring. Most use the map light in the nosecone, but any switched on source will work.

I'm sure more will chime in.

Enjoy the bike!

Re: -- K1200LT Power outlet adapter --

Old thread but right title.

I have had one of these adaptors and used it for years without a problem.

Yesterday I was using a 12v mini compressor to put air into the tyres when it suddenly stopped working.

So I changed the fuse which had blown. Problem solved I thought.

Wrong. There is power at the socket ( tested with something else ) but the adaptor is not working as before.

I am getting 12v where it arrives at the female end ( both negative and positive ) and also getting power on the negative inside the female but NOT at the little round contact at the bottom of same, which is the positive ( I think ).

Is this bit fused ? The whole thing is baffling me and I would really like some opinions on why this is happening.

Am including two photos to better explain what I mean.
