It happened to me - dead battery & stuck

Jumped on the bike for my morning commute. It was a brisk 20 degrees.
Not bad, I've riden in colder. We don't have allot of moisture in the air so
ice is not a problem - well, unless it has just rained.

Anyway..
Like I said, got on the bike. She cranked pretty slow, but she started up.
Mental note to self at this point, "my 3 year old battery needs to be replaced".
(yes, I know.... duh)

Got to work fine.

After work, I got on the bike, eager to get work. Turned the key, hit the button, and clickety,
clickety, click, click.
No more battery.
Stuck.

So I went back into the office, looking for a jump.
Someone reminded me of of a new product that we just started carrying.
The Lightning Pak.

It's an incredibly small (for it's power), lightweight charging/jumper system.
Charge your mobile device and jump your dead motorcycle, car, boat battery.

And that's what it did for me.

I flipped up the seat. Attached the jumper leads. Waited a few minutes and she started right up.

Long/short of the story - I'm getting one for the bike and one for the truck.

PLEASE NOTE:
I am in no way shape or form associated with the company that makes these.
Well, other than I work for an unnamed company that resells these.
I have supplied a link to the manufacturers products page so you can see the size/weight/power of these.
(Again not the company I work for)

I hope it can save someone's bacon when your in a jam.
It saved me.

I carry one of the Antigravity xp units on the bike. Have used it to jump my V10 Excursion . Great unit.

Re: It happened to me - dead battery & stuck

Nice to hear from folks that have used these. I've eyeballed them but thought it was a gimmick. It seems too good to be true that a little battery pack can boost a motorcycle or car battery.

I've been looking for a battery pack for charging my mobile devices on the go. Maybe have to look at getting one of these to fit that bill and give me some emergency power for the vehicles as well.

Re: It happened to me - dead battery & stuck

I bought an Antigravity XP-3 about a month ago and so far have jump started a friend's Airhead on a ride, a contractor's truck in my driveway and a Dodge mini-van in a parking lot. I bought it to charge my cell phone without having it hanging out in the breeze with wires attached. So far I haven't used it for my own vehicles or devices, but it impressed the hell out of the recipients.
So much so that I know at least 2 of them went out and bought one or more! Onlookers were amazed too.
It is probably smaller than a set of jumper cables and contains various adapters to charge electronic devices as well as a short pair of jumper cables with crocodile clamps.

No affiliation, just a satisfied user and there are other brands out there. Do a search for 'antigravity' on Amazon.

I wonder if this would also work well to run heated gear off the bike. I'm assuming a custom cable would be needed but that looks like the same power connector I used on my remote control helicopter LiPO battery packs.

I don't think so, but I don't know why not. The manual says to only use the USB interface for charging/powering USB devices and to only use the jump start connector for jump starting, not powering other devices.

Thanks for the info. I definitely wouldn't try it off the USB side. It would be off the 12v side but I guess that isn't an option. Thought I could get away from the $100 Gerbing battery packs.

Re: It happened to me - dead battery & stuck

A couple of guys I meet at breakfast have these and are very happy with them. I was just looking on Amazon and e-bay this morning for one.

I don't know about the XP-3, but the XP-1 has an 8 amp, 12 volt port. That should run the heated gear for a bit.

I left my key on for a couple of hours a while back and the lights killed the battery. Tried to bump start the bike but without power to the high pressure fuel pump, no go. Had to call AAA.

I'll definitely get one before my next trip.

The Antigravity units come with a nice case to keep everything together. A lot of other brand don't come with a case.

As a word of caution, be careful when using it to charge a smartphone through the 5V adapter... I bought a similar one at the LB MC show last year and used it briefly to recharge my Droid. After I did it, my calendar and time was screwed up - all appointments were shifted forward 4 hours for some reason.

I recharge my Samsung Galaxy S4 and Sena SMH10 units and never had a problem. I have the Antigravity make. Which manufacturer do you have? Sounds more like a phone problem than a voltage problem.

You may be right about the phone (an older Motorola Droid HD Max) that is due for replacement soon. I have the Powerall Deluxe make. Thanks!
