Fitting Scala to Series 6 Helmet

Hi to all the knowledgeable persons,

I purchased a BMW series 6 Helmet today. When buying it, I queried if the Scala 4 unit would fit. In true sales person tones, "of course it will".

I am now at home trying to work out how to fit the unit while allowing the visor slide to be easily accessed. I feel that I will need to stick the unit to the helmet above the slide, but it will require some ingenuity to attach it due to the contour of the helmet and the bracket of the Scala unit.

Has anyone had this issue and come up with a solution. I would appreciate some guidance and pictures.

Cheers to all.

Re: Fitting Scala to Series 6 Helmet

Hi all,
I scoured the web and found a number of images and videos with the Scala fitted to a Modular helmet. With that knowledge I figured I would just give it a go and if it did not work out, I had not lost little.

Ended up sticking the unit on with the Scala pads to the rear of the visor adjustment. It is lower and further back than I envisaged and would like. But hey, it is on there and if I can come up with an alternative, I will change it later.

Will try to upload some photos when I get a chance.

piccies would be good, I have a g4 with boom mic on a lift up helmet, my wife has the boom on her modular shoe neither of us have any problems but it does take time to get used to it touching the corner of your gob, If I am by my self i leave the mic on the outside of the helmet.

looks to be a lot further back than mine but as long as it is close to mouth it will be ok I use the clamps on mine I could not get them to stick on, how do you like the 3 sec vox delay I hate it!! I use open channel in towns and cities then put it on Vox on the open road.

Re: Fitting Scala to Series 6 Helmet

Greetings everyone.

I also purchased a BMW system 6 helmet recently - and faced the same issue when trying to fit my Sena SMH-10 headset.

Luckily, it came with a curved adhesive mount which fits to the rear of the visor slide. I do have to reach back further to operate it, but generally it is a good mounting.

After 3 weeks, my head has altered enough in shape for it to be comfortable in the helmet - I have found the Sys 6 to be quieter than my Shoei Multitec and my Reevu helmet.

Re: Fitting Scala to Series 6 Helmet

Hi all,
Thought I would provide an update.

Have had the helmet for circa a month and can say I like it. More airflow aroung my face and quieter. Went on a 7 hour ride over the weekend. The helmet felt fine and love the sun visor.

Learnt from my ride that I need to upgrade the low beam to a HID. The last 2 hours of the ride were across the Blue Mountains which were blanketed in fog and drizzling with rain. I was having difficulty seeing if the road was dry or wet in spots. I have one on order.

The helmet is still is a little tight but is moulding to my head and face. I am sure after a couple of months all will be fine.

I am still getting used to the new position of the Scala and the slide for the sun visor. But as they only get used a couple of times on a ride, all is fine.

Re: Fitting Scala to Series 6 Helmet

Hi Brian you wont regret the headlight upgrade, I don't use high beam much but i did replace it with one of those brighter ones they sell in super cheap etc for cars it's just a H3 not hid. it made a big difference as well. I had a 55w in originally and changed to a 35w after it failed (5yrs) 35w is not as good as 55w but it is till pretty good
