Heading west

Well guys haven't read many posts lately so I thought I'd let you know what I'm up to next week.Ive sent my GSA over to Perth last Monday by " Bikes only" transport company .I fly over to Perth on Monday the 5th July ,arrive at 10.15am taxi to their depot put the key in and take off.Well not quite, visiting my father who's got the dreaded big "c",and also visit my son who's working over there. The plan after that weekend is to hit the Nullabor and see as much as I can over the next week.I will be doing the Flinders ranges as well, that's why I've taken my GSA instead of the LT.Anyway that's the plan I've put a lot of time into the trip and the bike so I hope all goes well.I will try to post during the trip if I can work out how to load photos....Steve.

Re: Heading west

Guys sittin in a motel room at Dubbo after the last 4 hours ridin in the rain, its quite an experience passing a road train in the rain and nearly getting sucked under the wheels in the process.Anyway have done about 5000 kays so far about 500 or 600 of them on the dirt up in the Flinders and Gamon ranges, talk about the middle of nowhere, didn't see a 4wd for about 4-5 hrs every time i rode a different track.ill see if the pictures will work.

Re: Heading west

Open a free Photobucket account, and load them up to there. Then copy the "direct link" to the file and use the image load icon (the landscape pic) above, paste the URL of the pic in there..., or you can just right-click on the photo, copy it (ctrl-C) then paste it (ctrl-V) into the space where you want it... there's probably a number of other ways to do it and photo-sharing sites, but that's one a few guys here use. I'm not sure how they paste the thumbnail links in where it then links you to the bigger pic, maybe someone else can tell you that way....

Hi Alpha,
Good to hear you had a great trip so far. I am thinking of transporting a bike a similar way and wondered whether you would mind giving a rough idea as to what such a service costs?
Last time i had a bike transported was from Adelaide to Pert about 5 years ago and that cost about a grand.
Not cheap!

Kind regards,
Simon.

Re: Heading west

G'day Simon,Yeh It cost me $878.00 depot to depot. The company I used was Bikes Only,I've lost the number at the moment but a google search should easily bring that up.All in all I thought it was reasonable as when I got to Perth I put the key in and away I went.I did have a quote from a transport company over here at $600 but they wanted it crated and no fuel or oil,so with less hassle I went the other way.
