Cool The Mother Pot Hole, Old Walgrove Road Eastern Creek

All that rain last week, (glug glug) plus the double D 36 wheelers that travel up and down this road I travel on tend to suck up the tarmac a bit.

I had to do a double take on this pot hole last week as it was deeeeeeeeep. Wowwwww, and just imagine this full of water an piddling down on a dark evening.... they would still be digging the bike out.

Just had to stop the next day on the way to work at 07:15 an take a photo of this potential death trap...AAAggghhhh, the first pix don't really give a good perspective, so stuck my foot in it...

Hmmmmm maybe if I rode in it that would give me good insurance $$ for a new K1600......but maybe with two broken arms and legs would be a while before one could ride.....nahhhh not good odds.

cheers

There are loads of potholes around at the moment. And with this grey weather, drizzle and foggy helmet, you have to ride with octopus like feelers out in front to feel your way. Imagine a small wheeled scooter hitting that mother.

That would be an average size pothole for Alberta.

Re: The Mother Pot Hole, Old Walgrove Road Eastern Creek

When I was living up in West Virginia, it wasn't unusual to come up upon signs that said, "Caution, Pot Hole."

It seems that it was easier to put up the sign than to was to fill in the hole.

I spent a college summer in the Williamson WV/KY area working in and around the coal mines and for several weeks, filled in pot holes along the mining roads with a substance called Red Dog. This was an ash type of substance that came out of the mine processing plant and worked so well that pot holes would develop around it after the hole was repaired.

I was going to ask if this was with traffic or across the roadway.
At first I could not really tell the size and depth but assuming 10-12 inch boot size then I got a better perspective.
Never encountered but have observed lane separation the lenght of the dash white lines on the pavement. And since I slow riding over rail crossings I have been fortunate enough to pick my spot rather then plunge through the hole left (from crumbling) between the the steel rail and where it no longer is even with the road surface. Some communities have speed bumps and again if you are unfamiliar or miss the sign you could be entering a motorcross event unwillingly.
ride safe
