Newbie

Hi All

Recently joined the site with a view to exchanging information and social banter.

Have been riding on and off over the past 35 years and have placed a holding deposit on a 2008 K1200LT, 10,000km at Procycles Hornsby, picking it up on 28/10. I have had numerous cycles over the years and owned an ex Police K100 in the late 80's.

A quick question on Insurance, have done an online quote via Insure My Ride with a price of around $520.00. Is anyone out there using them, any good / bad feedback ??, they appear to be backed by Suncorp.

Regards

Auldy

Re: Newbie

Hi Auldy and welcome.
I've seen the bike you're buying as I'm local to Hornsby.
I am insured thru QBE but they only matched the quote from Insure My Ride for about the same money. I've had no need to make a claim but there are a couple of guys on here (chime in Chris) that have had recent experiences.
Enjoy your ride!

G'day Auldy, the Aussies will look after you, as we always do. You'll enjoy the big girl, I guarantee it. I too had an '88 K100RT and went for the 2005 K12LT ffor 2 up comfort (wife).
Ride safe and if your face gets sore initially it'll be becase you're constantly smiling but possibly unaware of it. Bring her over to Tassie some time.

Re: Newbie

I'm with New England as well Linton. They were recommended by my bike's previous owner and likewise, I've been told they are reputable. About $460 for my '05 at agreed value. I think that's pretty competetive according to others.

Re: Newbie

Welcome Ken!

Congrats on getting your new ride... you are gonna love it.
I've been with QBE for 6 years on my LT, have had call to use them several times and they've never been a problem for me, last time it was $8-9k damage, fixed no problems.
Cheapest I've been able to get.... just re-insured last month and it was $620 (named rider & Ulysses discount)... and I have a longish list of "extras" listed on the policy.
So $520 seems a good price.... is that on "market value"?

Looks like you'll pick it up just in time top take it for a run-in trip (for you) to the Snowy Ride..

cheers

Re: Newbie

Thanks for The Warm Welcome and info all

The quote via Insure my Ride was based off my age - 54, a 60% no claim with my AAMI car insurance and an alarm fitted to the bike. Whilst I am a member of Macarthur Ulysses there was no provision listed for Ulysses in the online quote system. Based off a Market Value of $28,600.00 with a $400 excess, no gear or extras cover.

QBE does seem to be a popular choice also

Unfortunately I have already booked to go away the weekend of The Snowy Ride, the Mrs was pretty pissed when she found out The Snowy was the same weekend, as she wanted to go.
