Cool Replacement Battery again for Beryl Beemer

Chris' little note about his hugely expensive failed BMW battery a couple of weeks ago after only two years use gives me a wry smile...(yaknow that look?.....sorta "wry").

I bought Beryl a new 20a/h battery at almost the same time as Chris but mine cost me something like $A70....mucho cheaper than "$400 odd"...

ok so with this extra cold weather us Sydney siders are now experiencing, (down to 4 deg C in the mornings when ready to go to "work") my el-cheapo sealed battery is giving me the "ESP" feeling that maybe I should go the Chris route and give it the flick...after all it is now almost 2 years old....and Beryl gets used at least every day from Monday - Saturday.

ok...so go the BMW way??? (Chris got a free replacement, as he should have done, but why only a 2 year life cycle), or go the mucho less expensive way???

...hmmmmmm let me think..ok ..thought..

Rang the battery supplier as last time...and heyyy,... the same Ritar 12v 20a/h sealed battery is now even cheaper at $50 each...that's gotta be good value..

Downside was that they had none in stock when I phoned, but the good side is that they got a couple of units from the Carlton/Kogarah depot sent over for pick up the next day...how good a service is that?

If you are interested, supplier is Alco Batteries...the depot I used is at 8 Robert Street Holroyd (just the other side of Parramatta), contact is "Chris", phone number 9637 1544.

I dont care if I gotta keep changing these units every "two" years...still lot better value than BMW IMHO.

cheers

Geez Phil... I know I'm gunna need one soon as mine is starting to slow crank these cold mornings but after forking out the dollars to fix my black car I can't afford it ($50 bux sheesh!)
Maybe next month if the power bill doesn't come in.
