Re: HID Install on My 03 K1200LT

Hey Craig.
mine from an older thread

6000k will likely be bluish, rather than daylight.
Other than that, don't know about the fittings... I bought (from the US) what everyone else was using at the time .... a H7 lo-beam and H11 hi-beam (un-necessary really)
post some pics when you get them before you "cut" anything to make things fit if you're not sure.

Re: HID Install on My 03 K1200LT

That is a lot of money for an HID kit.
you will be fine with 6000k capsules, although 4300-5000k would have been better.
The low beam is an H7 and the high beam is H3 on the 03 model. Installing the high beam is a pill as you need to "modify" the bulb holder and be sure to have a good ground.
BTW the LT does not have CAN-BUS, so adding accessories is easier.

Re: HID Install on My 03 K1200LT

I used 4300k give a white light, and got them from ebay $79 to the door had them in for year and bit H7 Car kit so I have a spare for the future if needed,
6000k will be really blue but will not give you better light than 4300k

Re: HID Install on My 03 K1200LT

The good news is that you don't need to remove any of the Tupperware in order to install the kit(s).
DDM Tuning has them on sale for $35.00

Re: HID Install on My 03 K1200LT

I just installed a motorcycle HID from this mob two weeks ago on my 2003 LT.

They do Australia wide overnight express delivery.

http://www.hidlighting.com.au/HID%20Motorcycle.html

I bought the 6000 slim ballast version (50watt) and installed it as low beam. It was dead easy, everything just plugs in and with some careful work you you don't need to remove anything other than the cover behind the globes. You will need to cut a hole in the cover to put the wiring (in it's waterproof plug) through and the rest is just cable tie work.

It's quality stuff and works very nicely.

Re: HID Install on My 03 K1200LT

Our HID kits are $139.99 - 15% discount for BMWLT members:

http://www.bmwlt.com/forums/showthre...&highlight=hid

Our motorcycle kits use German made Philips bulbs to ensure the brightest and most durable output. The ballasts are low draw so you can safely power them directly from your OE wiring. Careful with low priced HID kits. Most of the time they use unreliable DC ballasts (not AC) that will fail in higher temperatures.
