Re: Highway Pegs

Macca...I have both Jpegs and Mick-o-pegs on my LT. MOP's are much more effective. Proportionally, MOP's are preferred over JP's by US riders. I am tall, so JP's don't offer too much relief, but better than none.

If you can't order from the US, let me know, I can.

Re: Highway Pegs

Hi Macca Fill in your profile so we can al get to know you,,, Having bought my LT new in 2002 I can tell that there are NO accessories available in australia for The LT. everything comes from the States and it comes for a price this is the only Guy that I found that sells a screen and some other gear http://www.mototoys.com.au/
places Like A&S in the states Have great stuff but dont ship to australia

Over ther years I have spent probably 3 grand on accessories I have now done 100,000km and finally last week got a used Kontour seat from the states I am now happy I have everything at last, now for some serious riding

Re: Highway Pegs

Hi Macca.. welcome.

Check out the site supporters/Vendors and also classifieds from the home page.. a good place to start if you want to buy something.

Also do an advanced search on the item, often brings up lots of good info, but you may have to wade a little to find the right stuff.... but if in doubt... ask! We all have.

Mick-O-pegs http://www.ridingiswonderful.com/id46.html

I just bought some quick-disconnects from Beemerboneyard, shipped in about a week from US.
Also got some RS-Sport mirrors through another member who bought them for my through A&S... tricky but worked out OK.

Have bought a seat, moto-lights... and other stuff... often cheaper than buying through local dealers too if you need OEM (eg the RS mirrors worked out about $80 cheaper I think)

Tony at LT-parts can be a good source, too, bit harder to get hold of sometimes.

Generally, if you can find it on a US site there's a way of getting it bought and getting it here.. we have some good folks over in the US who are happy to help out.

just remember - BMW = bring my wallet

have fun!
cheers

Gday Chris,
Go to this site www.ridingiswonderful.com They are called Mick-o-pegs
They have photos from all angles. All up with shipping $370 Aus Dollars. Sounds a lot but a lot more comftable, and pretty easy to install.

Gday Linton,
I may just be down there anyway, my folks live just down the road from Newcastle, so any excuse to hit the road South. I also just got some custom sheepskin covers for my seats, a big difference in comfort, tho it makes me sit a bit high in the seat. Ive also just ordered a HID conversion kit from www.uprightware.com in Sydney. That wont be a fun exercise fitting that as I have no F#@*ing Idea what Im doing lol.

Re: Highway Pegs

Mate this is the single best upgrade you can do on the LT, only need it on the low beam you will probably never use the high beam I don't, I had no problems installing they are quite easy didnt have to cut any wires. because I am a cheapskate I got mine off ebay from hong kong I know people have knocked em but I couldnt be happier, I got a car kit so that give me a spare and I carry the old globe so if the igniter fails I am not stranded I can change it back.
I dont normally ride at night I put on HID to be visible in the Daylight after near collision that I put squarly down to not being seen.
There is a heavy bracket under the the nose cone I used 2 wire ties to hold up the igniter
I had a set of seats and sheep covers on ebay they didnt sell

Thumbs up Re: Highway Pegs

I can answer my own last question, MOP's are wonderful for doing long stretches of road on an LT.
The ride across the Nullabor would have been much less comfortable without them (and Rick Mayer modified seat).
Big cheers to Jim Mick for his product! :clap
The only additional thing I did was to add some ~10mm rubber adhesive strips where my shins touch the chrome trim, stops them banging cold hard plastic.
Happy boy!

Re: Highway Pegs

Gday Guys, Its been a while since ive been on. Since then Ive done a trip to melbourne Via Toowoomba for the Patriots AGM came home Via Canberra. The MOP were awsome, I did have lowered Foot boards for the trip and these also were great, but they scraped all the time, and I ended up breaking the Left one. Had it replaced and broke it again..back to standared pegs .
Now have a Backup Back rest..the single best thing Ive bought ,takes all the lower back pain away.
Gearing up for a Trip to Perth in November .
Cheers
Macca

Re: Highway Pegs

macca i have lowered foot boards theys are great going in a straight line otherwise they are ...... when I dropped my LT in tassie the footboard caused half of the damage about 3 grand from memory to the right hand side it broke the attachments off the side plate goughed the lower fairing and then procceeded to try and wipe out the pannier it was a real mess I would not recommend them at all. but that just me, plenty of others have not had an issue. when you are going to perth swing by our sunny little cove love to catch up and there is always a free bed

Re: Highway Pegs

Just bit the bullet and got a peg lowering kit, it uses your standard pegs, but lowers them down and forward. They also still fold up..havent scrapped them yet, but its good to stretch out a bit.

Re: Highway Pegs

just keep your tippy-toes on the pegs when you hit the twisties for when they fold up.... if you hit them hard enough you will scrape them... with standard pegs
