different bevel drive problem

Gezz does it never end with this thing? recently rode to brisbain/queensland for a break from Ballarat/victoria. LT went well during trip, but on a day trip to Australia Zoo parked the bike and had a pleasant day at the zoo.
When I returned there it was!!!! the oil soaked rear tire and rim. didn't see it when I left it parked there.
Had immediate serious Melt Down! some of you may be aware of my growing distrust of this machine. first diff at 30 thousand ks. now here I am in a dark deserted car park a long way from home and at 60 thousand ks. It looks like the peice of crap has done it again!!!
Well......... called RACV who sent out RACQ. we have "top cover", who then proceeded to argue as to who was going to pay for what! but that is another story.
Had bike taken to BM workshop in staford, who was nice einough to come back after his trip to the jym to put the thing inside his workshop. Thank goodness these bikes are bloody big so he didnt want it hanging around his workshop till he officially had time to fix it at the end of october.
Friday morning they start at 7 am. so by 930 am he had dismantled it found the diff had water in it which had emulsified with the oil and dribbled out the breather or seal onto the wheel.
Mistery is; how did it get in? we rode in rain for a part of three days on the way up to QLD. the bike was not immersed in water though.
Chris put in a new seal to be sure, and so another 300 bucks down the crapper with this bike.

Re: different bevel drive problem

Sorry to hear about the troubles you're having Dave, but... well mate, you just gotta stop taking these short day trips from Vic to Qld and get it out for a real run...maybe work the bugs out? You've almost got it run in by now, dont you?...
Have you made it home, or still in Queensy?

Re: different bevel drive problem

yeah made it home ok. I keep on threatening to trade it in but I do like the thing. Just wish it were a bit more robust.
Had three weeks of took five to get to QLD then 9 days with daughter and four days to come home to bury my Dad. Dunno what Id get if I did trade it in.
